About us
Hi, I’m Jamie Turner, founder and owner of The Restoration & Refurbishment Company.
My journey in the building trade began over 30 years ago, quite by chance. Fresh out of school, I landed a job with a small building company, earning £60 a week labouring and filling skips. The work was challenging, physical and honest, but something about it lit a fire in me. Watching skilled tradesmen at work inspired a simple dream: to master the craft and one day run my own business.
Fast forward three decades, and here I am doing exactly that, and much more.
My professional journey
Over the years, I’ve gained experience across several trades including carpentry, joinery, painting, decoration and plastering. My career took a major step forward when I joined a company carrying out multi-trade works within Buckingham Palace, where I spent over five years honing my craft.
Later, I was approached by a high-end plastering company and decided to specialise in this trade – a decision that shaped the rest of my career. As my skills and knowledge grew, so did my ambition. Eventually, I left to pursue my own path and embrace new challenges.
After years working mainly on commercial projects and new builds, I found my way back to heritage and restoration work – an area that felt both rewarding and meaningful. Returning once again to Buckingham Palace, this time working with lime plasters and traditional materials, was a defining moment.
From there, I went on to contribute to some of London’s most prestigious historical buildings, including:

With time, I naturally transitioned into the domestic market, bringing with me the high standards, ethics and craftsmanship developed through years of experience.
Today, The Restoration & Refurbishment Company combines traditional skills with modern professionalism. I’m proud to work alongside a trusted network of highly accomplished tradespeople, many of whom I’ve known and worked with for years. Together, we’ve built a reputation for quality, reliability and integrity.
As the business has grown, I’ve also developed strong project management and leadership skills, ensuring every project, regardless of size, receives the attention and care it deserves.
Jamie was extremely professional from the beginning and quick and easy to communicate with. This is our first house so we had no renovation experience, Jamie shared his expert knowledge with us and was very transparent at every stage. His team were polite and respectful and cleaned up well afterwards. Good value for money too. Would thoroughly recommend!
